About the Author
Jonathan Dorf’s plays have been produced throughout the United States and Canada, as well as in Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. He has written extensively for young actors and audiences, with more than a half-dozen plays specifically written for teens, including several commissions from the Choate Rosemary Hall Summer Arts Conservatory (CT) and the Walnut Street Theatre (PA). His works are published by Playscripts, Eldridge, Brooklyn Publishers and Original Works, with monologues in Meriwether and Smith & Kraus collections.
Resident playwriting expert for Final Draft (for whom he created the playwriting "Ask the Expert") and The Writers Store (creator of Playwriting101.com and playwriting instructor at Writers University), he is co-chair of the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights. He is also the author of Young Playwrights 101, a book for young playwrights and those who teach them, and has conducted workshops at schools and festivals (including the Tennessee Arts Academy, the International Thespian Festival and numerous state festivals) across the United States. In summer 2008, he will be Visiting Associate Professor of Theatre in the MFA playwriting program at Hollins University (Roanoke, VA). He holds a BA in Dramatic Writing and Literature from Harvard University and an MFA in Playwriting from UCLA, and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.
